Predeparture

Two days and counting!  My plane flies out of Bismarck at 2pm on Thursday where I will fly to Chicago; Frankfurt, Germany; then Mumbai, India.  I will be interning in Mumbai, India throughout June with a focus in allopathic medicine, then transfer to Dehradun, India for the duration of July focusing in ayurvedic medicine.  While in Mumbai I will partake in daily clinical rotations for three weeks within the city observing various tropical and infectious diseases, surgery, and OBGYN.  The last week in Mumbai I will travel to Acworth Leprosy Hospital, a rural hospital outside of the city specifically treating leprosy patients.  In July I will spend two weeks at Dehradun located in northern India nestled in the foothills of the Hymalayas.  There I will observe ayurvedic medicine then transfer to the smaller village of Patti.  While in Patti there will be daily Yoga classes, medicinal plant identification lectures, and hikes to local health camps.  My last week will be spent in Rishikesh observing at the Parmarth Ashram.  Here I will see naturopathic techniques and learn more about Indian Yoga practices and meditation.  Feel free to comment on my posts throughout the summer with updates from home and please keep me in your prayers.
